About SHG

For more than 8.4 million people, specialized care is still hundreds of kilometers away. Backed by the diaspora, Sahel Healthcare Group is building the first private hospital in the Adamawa region in Ngaoundéré: Sahel International Hospital, bringing quality care closer to those who need it.

Sahel Healthcare Group S.A. (SHG) is a public limited company under Cameroonian law, incorporated in accordance with the OHADA Uniform Act on commercial companies and economic interest groupings.

Born of a private initiative led by the diaspora from Cameroon's Grand North, SHG S.A. embodies a collective ambition: to mobilize the skills, resources and energy of Cameroonians at home and abroad to contribute lastingly to the development of the country's healthcare infrastructure.

This unifying initiative has gradually brought together the local elites of the three regions of the Grand North, traditional communities and authorities, notably the Lamidos, municipal authorities, senior dignitaries of the Adamaoua region and the city of Ngaoundéré, as well as many Cameroonians of the diaspora originating from other regions of the country.

SHG S.A. stands out for a pioneering entrepreneurial model, presented as a first in Cameroon, bringing together in a single healthcare investment company the diaspora, local elites, traditional communities and territorial development stakeholders.

This model, unique in its unifying and participatory approach, goes beyond regional, community and social affiliations. It reflects a firm conviction: Cameroon's development is a collective responsibility that can be carried by the solidarity of its citizens, wherever they are.

Our vision

The Adamawa, North, and Far North regions of Cameroon are home to over 8.4 million people — nearly one third of the national population. Yet private healthcare is virtually nonexistent in the area.

With fewer than one hospital bed per 1,000 inhabitants — well below WHO recommendations — patients must travel hundreds of kilometers to access specialized care.

SHG S.A. was born from the belief that access to quality healthcare should not depend on geography. Our ambition is to become the benchmark for private healthcare in Cameroon's Sahel region.
